I have been looking far and wide for the perfect case for my Canon Powershot SD780, and finally found it. It is snug enough that my camera doesn’t wiggle, get not too snug that it’s hard to put in and take out. There is a nice inside pouch for a spare battery, and two separated smaller pouches for extra SD cards. It can be slipped through a belt, or used with it’s attached wrist strap. However, there is a nice ring on the back where you can clip your own neck strap to it if you wish. It is very soft inside, to cushion the camera. I also like the styling: professional, yet modern. The compact size is definitely a plus, and fits into my purse without taking up too much room! You can’t go wrong with this one!

GGS DSLR LCD Optical Glass Screen Protector for Canon EOS 450D Rebel XSi camera Review

The LCD glass protector is worth its weight in gold. Recently my Canon XT1 was lying on the back seat during a wildlife shoot. I had to make a sudden, hard stop and the camera tumbled off of the seat onto the floor with a heavy 100-400 lens attached to it. The camera must have landed on the LCD screen because when I inspected it for damage the camera screen was broken and the edges were chipped off.

I thought the damage was to the Canon’s LCD screen but when I pulled the GGS DSLR Optical Glass Screen Protector off the LCD did not have a single mark on it. The glass screen protector had taken the impact and saved the Canon’s LCD screen. Maybe this was because it sticks out just the thickness of a playing card or maybe because the self-adhering tape on the optcal glass protector held it in place during the fall.

Whatever the reason I immediately replaced the GGS DSLR Optical Glass Screen Protector with a new one. I would rather replace these all day than to have to send my new Canon XT1 to be repaired.

Also, I will never, ever place my camera on the seat again! Further, the Canon XT1 and the Canon 100-400MM lens were both still working very well! This demonstrates the durability of the Canon line of cameras and lens.

Canon PowerShot A590IS 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom Review

I am an independent insurance adjuster and while I use this camera for personal photography I mostly use it in my work. I had the Power Shot A 630 before and while it was good, it is bulky and hard to fit into your pants pocket. The big plus with it was the flip view finder that was most handy. There are other cameras that are more compact than this one but most of them do not have a viewfinder. I find a viewfinder most helpful when you are out on a sunny day with the sun on your screen.

If you use the camera to transfer your photos from camera to your PC you are going to find that it has a hearty appetite for batteries so I suggest you invest in a card reader. If you take a lot of photos, a card reader will pay for itself in short order.

My biggest complaint about the camera is it is easy to change the settings on it and not know it. When climbing ladders, I put it in my pocket so it sometimes changes to another setting without me knowing it. For its size the zoom is good but you always would like more. I would prefer if it had a little more wide angle setting for some of the shots I have to take. The flash is OK and does a pretty good job eliminating redeye and I suspect does just as well as its competition in terms of effect distance, harshness and redeye reduction.

The quality appears to be excellent. I have not had one performance problem with it even though I have dropped it a couple of times. By the way, the A630 is still going strong too. When you are out on a claim you can’t afford for your camera to quit on you so the A630 goes along as a back up. The only time I sue it is when I need the flip view finder.

Let’s face it, since the coming of the digital age, Canon has been the number 1 seller and there is a reason for that. I also have a Canon Rebel SLR that I bought right after I retired from professional photography and it has also held up well and provides excellent exposures.
